Hello fabulous people, yes I am still alive…as the recent picture indicates LOL I can’t even look at you.
Lets first address the big elephant in the room…my unannounced break, or should I call it the unplanned break, I have no excuses I have truly been slacking, the question I recently asked myself is, am I uninspired or do I just put so much pressure on myself that I end up just psyching myself out and we all know how the story goes. As I have been drowning myself in a lot of very informative videos, I came across one where the speaker spoke about writing and being a creative as a whole, and the advice that stuck with me was to keep going even when you’re stuck and I am determined to be like Nike and just do it.
Let’s talk POW ‘Power of Women’ , I previously shared about the event they had last year and what they are all about, if you didn’t see that post, checkout this link and check it out: http://theebelovedamour.com/the-power-of-women/
Power of women is an organization devoted to giving back, this year their annual fashion show will be contributing their proceeds to human trafficking. They had invited a strong and inspiring woman by the name Dr. Marlene Carson, who shared her story about being trafficked at a young age and how she has overcome. She chooses to use her story to inspire and be a sign of hope to many young women.
The Fashion Show
The show included a lot of young designers from Columbus, Ohio, who are impeccably talented if I may add, my mind was blown, to think that they took the time to create these garments for our eyes to admire, they are truly an inspiration to alot of young designers or aspiring designers such as myself who need the motivation to get started. Thank you to Columbus fashion week as well as the POW group, a lot of these young designers are given an opportunity to use fashion week as a stepping stone towards their future careers.
I did not take any pictures of the garments that were showcased, but instead recorded the show and I am hoping to put it together and share it with you all as soon as its done. Not forgetting my outfit of the night, so I wore one of my favourite striped shirt from H&M with a cropped denim shirt and the infamous black coat taken from my mother’s closet that I always go on about.
Inspire, keep going and just Do it!
